As of July 1, 2011, the Federal Entrepreneur Immigration class, is on hold and no such applications will be accepted until further notice, from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
As of July 1, 2012, Immigration Canada has temporarily stopped accepting applications for the Federal Investor Program, in order to focus on processing the existing applications, and to review this program. This immigration program allows owners or managers of businesses, to invest with the Government of Canada without the requirement of opening a business, subject to further criteria to be advised by Immigration Canada.
However, the Province of Quebec has an Immigrant Investor Program, allowing foreign nationals with business experience, to invest either $220,000 CAD non-refundable or $800,000 refundable, by the Province of Quebec, in 5 years without interest.
The applicant need not open any business in Quebec to qualify.
The net worth of the investor and spouse combined, must be as least $1,600,000.
